Shackled to the Age of Worms
Sooner or later, those looking to sell loot will cross paths with Tidwoad, a cantankerous gnomish jeweller with a meticulously arranged shop located on the Vein’s central square. Tidwoad’s is as close to a bank as one can find in Diamond Lake, and the gnome keeps several small vaults on the premises. He maintains an illusory collection of his finest gems in a showroom display case, boasting that his establishment is completely theft proof. A shield guardian named Festus helps to keep the gnome’s theft-free streak alive with powerful stone fists and a constant focus on protecting the shop. Several gnomish lodgers also live in the apartments above the workshop.
The gnome jeweler charges a five percent exchange tax on all gems traded for coins, and will buy non-gem valuables at thirty to fifty percent of their true worth, depending upon the persuasiveness of his clients. Tidwoad frequently paces upon the surface of his business counter, exclaiming that his customer’s efforts to get a better deal will drive him into a debtor’s prison. There are rumours that he has links to both Balabar Smenk and Chaum Gansworth.
